Mangaluru/Udupi, Jun 17: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted an intensification of monsoon conditions starting Monday in the coastal region, accompanied by the possibility of high-velocity winds.

Heavy rainfall is anticipated over the next five days across various parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. IMD reports suggest significant rainfall in Dakshina Kannada on June 19 and 20, with other areas expected to experience moderate to heavy showers.

On Sunday, both districts experienced moderate rains, with Bantwal and neighboring regions receiving substantial afternoon showers amidst alternating sunshine and cloudy spells. Mangaluru city, however, did not report any rainfall.

Temperatures in Mangaluru ranged from a high of 30°C to a low of 24°C.
