Mangaluru: Mangalore Refinery and Petrochemicals Limited (MRPL) celebrated the 70th Kannada Rajyotsava with vibrant cultural festivities at MERC, MRPL Township on November 22, 2025. The event opened with a majestic procession of Goddess Bhuvaneswari, followed by traditional performances such as Dollu Kunitha, Veeragase, Huli Vesha, and Gombe Kunitha, highlighting Karnataka’s rich cultural tapestry.
Tributes to icons of service
The stage programme began with a heartfelt tribute to Captain Pranjal M. V. and Padma Shri Salumarada Thimmakka, honouring their remarkable service and enduring legacy.

Felicitation of Kannada teachers
MRPL honoured five retired Kannada teachers for their exceptional role in nurturing the Kannada language and preserving Karnataka’s cultural ethos.


Speeches underline cultural pride
In his address, Dr. Bhat reflected on the cultural depth and significance of Kannada and appreciated MRPL’s commitment to promoting the state’s heritage.
Delivering the Presidential Address, Shri Krishna Hegde Miyar reaffirmed Kannada as a vibrant symbol of Karnataka’s identity and pride. He also highlighted MRPL’s sustained support to Government Kannada Medium Schools by improving infrastructure, providing essential equipment, and upgrading sanitation facilities—promising continued efforts in the coming years.

Prizes and cultural finale
Winners of various competitions organised as part of the celebration were felicitated. The event concluded with a captivating cultural performance by the Arehole team, bringing the festivities to a grand conclusion.
