Mangaluru: A 32-year-old youth from Karnad in Mulki died on Friday after succumbing to severe injuries sustained in a road accident involving his two-wheeler and a car on June 28.

The deceased has been identified as Akshith, a resident of Karnad. He had been undergoing treatment for injuries sustained in the accident for several weeks before his condition worsened and he eventually died despite prolonged medical care.

The accident, which occurred on the night of June 28, involved Akshith and another youth, Manish, who were travelling on a two-wheeler from Karnad towards Mulki. A car travelling in the opposite direction towards Moodbidri reportedly collided with their bike.

Accident leaves two riders seriously injured

According to the available details, the collision occurred when the car, which was reportedly travelling at high speed, struck the two-wheeler carrying Akshith and Manish.

The impact of the crash left both riders with serious injuries. They were immediately shifted to a hospital, where they received emergency medical treatment.

Akshith’s injuries were severe and required prolonged treatment. Despite the efforts of medical professionals and continued treatment, his condition did not improve sufficiently.

After battling the injuries sustained in the accident for several weeks, Akshith died on Friday.

The death has left his family and the local community in Karnad mourning. What began as a routine journey towards Mulki on the night of June 28 ended in a fatal tragedy for the 32-year-old.

Other injured rider recovers

Manish, who was travelling with Akshith at the time of the accident, also sustained injuries in the collision.

He was taken to hospital along with Akshith and received treatment for the injuries suffered in the crash. According to the available information, Manish has since recovered.

The different outcomes for the two riders underline the seriousness of the collision and the extent of the injuries suffered by those involved.

While Manish has been able to recover, Akshith remained under medical care for an extended period before succumbing to his injuries.

Fatal road accidents highlight need for caution

Road accidents involving two-wheelers can result in serious injuries because riders have comparatively little physical protection in the event of a collision.

The Mulki accident is another reminder of the risks faced by motorists travelling on roads, particularly at night. Maintaining a safe speed, remaining alert to vehicles approaching from the opposite direction and following traffic regulations are essential for reducing the possibility of serious crashes.

Speeding can significantly reduce a driver’s reaction time and increase the severity of a collision when an accident occurs. On the other hand, two-wheeler riders are particularly vulnerable to serious injury when involved in high-impact crashes.

For families, the consequences of such accidents can continue long after the initial incident, especially when victims require prolonged hospitalisation and treatment.

In Akshith’s case, the accident occurred on June 28, but the consequences continued for several weeks before his death on Friday.

Karnad mourns loss of 32-year-old

Akshith’s death has brought a tragic end to the prolonged struggle following the accident. The 32-year-old was a resident of Karnad, and news of his death has caused grief among those familiar with him and his family.

The incident also highlights how road accidents can have delayed fatal consequences. A victim who survives the initial crash may continue to face serious medical complications arising from the injuries sustained.

The available information indicates that Akshith remained under treatment after the June 28 collision and ultimately succumbed despite prolonged medical efforts.

Meanwhile, the recovery of Manish has provided some relief amid the tragedy, although he too had to undergo treatment following the crash.

Accident leaves lasting impact

The fatal collision has once again brought attention to road safety in and around Mulki. For motorists, especially those travelling at night, adherence to speed limits and careful observation of traffic conditions remain crucial.

A momentary lapse in caution or excessive speed can have consequences that extend far beyond the immediate crash, affecting victims, families and communities.

In this case, the June 28 collision resulted in critical injuries to two young men. While one has recovered, Akshith’s injuries proved fatal after weeks of treatment.

His death serves as a tragic reminder of the importance of responsible driving and road safety. As the family mourns his loss, the incident underscores the need for motorists to exercise greater caution and avoid risky driving practices on busy roads.
