Mangaluru: A team of advocates from Bengaluru, led by Ojaswi Gowda and Sachin Deshpande, arrived in Mangaluru on Friday intending to meet Dakshina Kannada Superintendent of Police Arun K regarding explosive claims about alleged crimes in Dharmasthala village. However, the meeting did not take place as the SP was reportedly unavailable.
Speaking briefly to the media, the advocates stated that they would share further information only after an official discussion with the SP. The visit follows a viral letter circulating on social media, suggesting that a man is prepared to step forward at the Dharmasthala police station with sensitive information about serious criminal activities in the area.
In their statement, which also gained traction online, Gowda and Deshpande revealed that the man who contacted them claims to be tormented by guilt. He has allegedly confessed to being involved in crimes related to the assault and sexual exploitation of women, followed by secret burials.
The advocates refrained from naming the individual or elaborating on the specifics of the case, maintaining that law enforcement must be informed first. The nature of the claims has sparked widespread concern and speculation, especially given the historical spiritual and cultural significance of Dharmasthala.
Authorities have yet to confirm whether the meeting will be rescheduled or how they plan to proceed with the claims made through the advocates.
