With a mission to deliver accessible and quality healthcare at no cost, the ‘Namma Clinic’ initiative, introduced three years ago in the coastal belt, is now entering a new phase of expansion.

Seven additional clinics are slated to open soon across Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts. At present, these clinics are functional in numerous locations in Dakshina Kannada such as Sooterpet, Hoige Bazaar, Bolur, Kodikal, Pacchanadi, Meenakaliya, Kunjathbail, Kerebail, Gantalkatte, Bannur, Duggaldka, and Kodimbala. Under the Pradhan Mantri–Ayushman Bharat Health Infrastructure Mission, newly established clinics have also started serving areas like Kondana, Lingappayan Kadu, Guttakadu, Malavoor, Ukkuda, Kumpala, and Netthoor.

In Udupi district, current operational clinics are located at Beedinagudde, Kakkunje, Nittur, Mariyanpur (Karkala), Kharvikeri, T.T. Road (Kundapur), Vasre, Tharapathi (Byndoor), Kombagudde (Kaup) and Lakshminagar (Udupi).

These clinics offer comprehensive services, including maternal and child health, family planning, communicable disease control, outpatient consultations, screenings for diabetes, hypertension and cancer, and oral, ENT, elderly, and mental health care, along with basic emergency services. Each centre is manned by a medical officer, nurse, lab technician, and support staff. Importantly, all services are completely free.

As part of the upcoming rollout, Belthangady, Bantwal, and two spots in Ullal taluk will host new clinics in Dakshina Kannada, while Saligrama and Malpe Port will receive new centres in Udupi. A clinic near the Udupi KSRTC bus stand is also in the pipeline, though technical delays have slowed its progress.
