The Nandi Rath Yatra, organized by Gau Seva Gatividhi Karnataka, Radha Surabhi Gau Mandira, and Rashtriya Gau Seva Samsthana Trust, made its way into Mangaluru on Friday. A warm reception was held near Mahaveer Circle, Pumpwell, where the sacred Nandi idol on the chariot was adorned with floral tributes and an aarti by the event’s welcoming committee.

Speaking at the gathering, Jagadish Shenava, the committee’s general secretary, highlighted that this yatra, dedicated to safeguarding native cattle breeds, had journeyed across Karnataka before arriving in the city. Over the next nine days, the procession will visit temples, monasteries, and institutions, facilitating Nandi worship and promoting cow-derived products.

The closing ceremony is scheduled for April 5 at 5:30 PM at Kadri Grounds. A procession will commence from Ambedkar Circle at 3:30 PM, leading to the venue. Modeled after the Hindu Samajotsava, the event is expected to draw over 15,000 attendees. The day will feature 108 bhajan groups, the Vishnu Sahasranama recital, and a showcase of indigenous cattle breeds.

VHP leader Sharan Pumpwell urged the public to actively participate in the finale of this 95-day pilgrimage, emphasizing its role in preserving India’s rich cattle heritage. District VHP President HK Purushotham also attended the event.
