Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district committee of the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI) has submitted a formal complaint to Mangaluru Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy, seeking legal action against actor Dhanveer over his alleged derogatory remarks against Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar and minister Zameer Ahmed Khan.

The complaint was submitted on Monday, October 26, by an NSUI delegation led by district president Suhan Alva. The delegation met the police commissioner and urged him to register a case against the actor and initiate appropriate legal proceedings in connection with the alleged statements.

The development follows concerns raised by the student organisation over the nature of the remarks reportedly made by the actor. The NSUI representatives called for the matter to be examined in accordance with the law and sought police intervention.

NSUI seeks impartial investigation

In its complaint, the NSUI district committee called for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the actor’s alleged statements. The delegation urged the police to examine the matter and take appropriate legal action if any violation of the law is established.

The organisation maintained that the allegations warranted scrutiny by the authorities and requested that the complaint be dealt with through the appropriate legal process.

The submission of the complaint marks the student organisation’s formal appeal to the police to investigate the matter. However, the complaint itself does not establish that an offence has occurred, and any further action would depend on the findings of the investigation and the applicable law.

The police commissioner has been urged to ensure that the allegations are examined impartially and that necessary steps are taken in accordance with legal procedures.

NSUI leaders join delegation

NSUI district president Suhan Alva led the delegation that met Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy to submit the complaint.

NSUI vice-presidents Sukhwinder Singh and Shan Siri were among those present. Other representatives included leaders Kaushik, Sushan and Ethan.

The delegation reiterated its demand for an investigation into the alleged remarks against D K Shivakumar and Zameer Ahmed Khan and sought appropriate action based on the outcome of the inquiry.

The complaint brings the issue before the city police, with the organisation seeking a formal response to the allegations. Further developments will depend on the police examination of the complaint and any subsequent legal proceedings.
