Mangaluru’s Crime Branch detectives have picked up yet another suspect tied to the brutal slaying of Hindu activist and known rowdy‐sheeter Suhas Shetty.

Abdul Razak, 59, originally from Bajpe but now living in a Kenjar high-rise, was taken into custody on charges of masterminding parts of the plot and shielding the killers while they lay low.

Investigators allege Razak joined forces with the primary perpetrators—his own son, Mohammad Muzammil, and son-in-law Naushad Vamanjoor, widely referred to as “Chotte Naushad.” Detectives say the detailed blue-print for the hit was drawn up inside Razak’s apartment, where resources and escape routes were quietly arranged.

Police add that Razak’s role went beyond mere planning; he is accused of funding logistics, providing safehouses, and steering the fugitives away from early arrest, thereby extending their run from the law.

Suhas Shetty was hacked to death on 1 May, shocking local residents and sparking an intensive manhunt. Within days, officers had rounded up eight individuals believed to be directly involved. Subsequent raids netted three more, and Razak’s arrest now pushes the tally to twelve.

City police officials stress that the investigation is far from over. Special squads are combing multiple districts to locate the remaining accomplices and nail down the motive behind the assault. Authorities urge anyone with information to step forward, promising anonymity and protection.

Citizens, meanwhile, remain on edge yet hopeful that swift, coordinated policing will bring full justice to the victim’s family and deter similar gang-style reprisals in the coastal city.
