Dakshina Kannada: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for five districts in Karnataka due to continued heavy rainfall. The districts under alert are Kodagu, Udupi, Dakshina Kannada, Hassan, and Chikkamagaluru.
A yellow alert has been announced for the rest of the state, forecasting widespread rain.
Wind speeds along the coast are expected to reach 30-40 km/h, prompting a strict warning to fishermen to avoid venturing into the sea. Coastal and Malnad regions are experiencing intensified monsoon activity.
In Kodagu, where rains have been particularly intense, authorities have declared a holiday for schools and colleges as a safety measure.
The IMD continues to monitor the weather closely and urges the public to remain cautious.
