Bantwal – A total of 11,530 cases were amicably resolved during the National Lok Adalat held on Saturday at the Bantwal Court, under the guidance of the Bantwal Taluk Legal Services Committee. The event was conducted as per the directives of the state and district legal services authorities.

An impressive ₹4,25,33,790 was recovered, including fines and settlements, according to a press release issued by the committee.

Among the cases settled:

  • 26 civil suits, including bank recovery and fee-related disputes, yielded ₹66.06 lakh.

  • 908 criminal cases, including MMDR and cheque bounce matters, led to the collection of ₹73.92 lakh.

  • A large portion—10,596 pre-litigation cases—was resolved with a total recovery of ₹2.85 crore.

  • The Lok Adalat successfully handled a wide range of civil and criminal disputes through mutual compromise. These included property and partition disputes, motor accident claims, matrimonial reconciliations, bank recovery cases, and cheque bounce matters under compoundable offenses.

    The proceedings were chaired by Anila Prakash M P, judge at the Bantwal Senior Civil and JMFC Court and president of the Bantwal Taluk Legal Services Committee, along with Krishna Murthy N and Rajendra Prasad, judges at the Principal and Additional Civil and JMFC Courts.

    Advocates Nithin, Amrutha, and Shruti facilitated as mediators. Bantwal Bar Association president Richard Costa M and several senior and junior lawyers also took part in the proceedings.
