Mangaluru: Swift action by Panambur police helped rescue a farmer from Hassan district who was reportedly in emotional distress and facing personal difficulties. The intervention by police officials led to the individual being safely reunited with his family after counselling and support measures were initiated.
According to a press note issued by police, the farmer from Channapatna in Hassan district had been dealing with health-related concerns and financial difficulties. He had left his home on the morning of May 22 and later travelled to Mangaluru.
Family members reportedly became worried after they were unable to convince him to return home. Concerned over his emotional state, they attempted to contact and locate him but were initially unsuccessful.
Family sought urgent assistance
Police said the family later received information that he was in the Panambur area and immediately sought help.
A retired police officer was contacted by the family, following which assistance was sought from Saleem Abbas and the Panambur police team.
Officials quickly responded to the request and began efforts to establish contact with the farmer. Police personnel maintained communication and attempted to reassure him while simultaneously gathering information regarding his whereabouts.
Authorities said timely coordination between family members and police officials played a significant role in ensuring that the situation was addressed without delay.
Police intervention leads to safe rescue
The police team reportedly continued communicating with the farmer and persuaded him to remain calm while tracing his location.
Officials located him and brought him safely to the police station at around 7.30 pm. After speaking with him and offering counselling support, police coordinated with family members to ensure his safe return to his native place.
Police said the intervention focused on ensuring the person’s immediate safety and emotional well-being while helping reconnect him with his support system.
Earlier intervention also highlighted
Police noted that this was not the first time prompt intervention had helped prevent a crisis situation.
According to officials, in November 2025, Panambur police had also intervened in another incident involving a man and his young daughter, ensuring their safety through timely action and support.
Authorities said such interventions underline the importance of quick response, communication and community support in helping individuals facing emotional distress.
The incident also highlights the role families, friends and authorities can play in recognising signs of distress and seeking immediate help when needed.
