In a shocking incident, a passenger has reported the disappearance of ₹4 lakh from his luggage while traveling from Pune to Mangaluru on February 15.

Manohar Jaya Shetty, a Pune-based resident, lodged a complaint stating that he had securely fastened his bag, which contained the cash, before boarding a flight from Pune Airport at 9:55 am. His luggage underwent screening and was checked in as per standard procedure.

Upon arriving at Mangaluru Airport around 11:40 am, he retrieved his bag without any visible signs of tampering. However, after reaching home, he was startled to find his clothes in disarray and the cash missing. Shetty strongly suspects the money was stolen while his baggage was in transit between the airports.

Authorities at Bajpe police station have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the alleged theft. Officials are expected to review CCTV footage and airline handling procedures to determine when and where the incident occurred.

Incidents of in-flight baggage theft have raised concerns over airport security and luggage handling. Authorities are urging passengers to remain cautious with valuables while traveling.
