Mangaluru – Actor and activist Prakash Raj has publicly condemned the mob assault on four YouTubers who were reporting from Dharmasthala, where an ongoing SIT investigation is probing the alleged mass burial and Soujanya murder case.

The incident took place on Wednesday evening near Dharmasthala in Dakshina Kannada district, when a group of 50–60 individuals attacked four media persons, including a cameraman. Police sources said the mob acted under the claim that the YouTubers were “defaming Dharmasthala.”

In a video message posted on social media, Prakash Raj expressed strong disapproval of the attack.

“In Dharmasthala, journalists reporting for justice for Soujanya’s murder were attacked, which is condemnable. Because of these goons, Dharmasthala is getting a bad name,” he said.

Questioning the attackers’ motives, he added,

“What is so disturbing about asking why Soujanya died such a tragic death? This only deepens suspicion—who are these goons protecting?”

He further urged the authorities to act swiftly:

“I request the police to arrest these individuals and investigate who is backing them. The public must realize that seeking truth and justice is a fundamental right.”

The Soujanya case, involving the 2012 rape and murder of a college student, has regained national attention following renewed public outcry and SIT-led excavations, which have reportedly uncovered human remains at multiple locations.
