Mangaluru: The Patrika Bhavan Trust, Mangaluru, held its annual meeting on Tuesday, August 19, at the Patrika Bhavan, where new office-bearers for the upcoming term were elected.
New office-bearers elected unanimously
Prominent media personality Pundalik Pai (Annu Mangalore) was unanimously elected as the new President of the Trust. Ravi Posavanike was chosen as the General Secretary, while Harsha, who had previously held the position, was re-elected as Treasurer.
The meeting was presided over by outgoing President Ramakrishna R., who extended his best wishes to the newly elected members. General Secretary Venu Vinod presented the annual report and financial accounts of the Trust during the session.
Attendance and proceedings
The meeting was attended by Treasurer Harsha, Trust members K. Anand Shetty, Jagannath Shetty Bal, Pundalik Pai, Ravi Posavanike, and Pupparaj B. Distinguished guests included Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Association President Srinivas Nayak Indaje and Mangalore Press Club President P. B. Harish Rai.
According to a statement from the Trust, financial assistance amounting to ₹7.47 lakh was provided during the past term to support journalists with medical expenses and offer compensation to bereaved families. Additionally, ₹5 lakh was allocated to support the Golden Jubilee celebrations of the DK District Working Journalists’ Association.
Strengthening journalist welfare
Speaking at the meeting, members emphasised the importance of continuing welfare programmes for journalists and strengthening support mechanisms for those facing medical or financial hardships. The Trust also plans to explore new initiatives to promote press-related activities and provide greater assistance to media professionals in the district.
