A distressing case involving two missing pet dogs has drawn attention in Dakshina Kannada after a man from Puttur alleged that his neighbour took away his two pet dogs and abandoned them near the BC Road dumping yard, around 30 kilometres away.

According to the pet owner, the incident reportedly took place on Friday, April 24. Since then, he has been searching daily around the dumping yard and nearby areas but has not been able to trace the animals.

The owner said the two dogs were like family members and had been raised with great care and affection. He added that he has been unable to eat or sleep properly since their disappearance.

Description of the missing dogs

The missing dogs have been described as:

  • Mother dog: Brown in colour, around 25 kg, native/desi breed, cat-like eyes, wearing a blue collar, and reportedly responds to the name Tommy
  • Daughter dog: Brown in colour, around 15 kg, around six months old, wearing a red collar

The owner fears the dogs may have wandered away from the dumping yard area or moved elsewhere after being abandoned.

Complaint reportedly lodged

Screenshots shared in local animal welfare groups claim that a complaint has been lodged with police. Group members also alleged that the neighbour was asked to assist in tracing the dogs.

Animal lovers and local residents have begun circulating appeals on social media, requesting people in BC Road, Bantwal and surrounding areas to keep watch for the missing pets.

Reward announced for information

The owner has also announced that a reward will be given for any genuine information leading to the recovery of the pets.
