Puttur: Dr Ninaad Lasrado, a young scientist from Puttur, has made it to the prestigious Forbes 30 Under 30 Asia 2025 list in the Healthcare & Science category, recognising his outstanding contributions to viral immunology.
Currently serving as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard Medical School, Boston, USA, Dr Lasrado has emerged as one of the youngest scientists to be featured in this global recognition platform. He was selected for his groundbreaking research and numerous contributions to the field of immunology, including over 20 published research papers in top-tier international journals such as the New England Journal of Medicine, Science, and Nature’s Scientific Reports.
Academic and research excellence
Dr Lasrado completed his PhD in viral immunology from the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, USA, at the remarkably young age of 24. He then joined Harvard Medical School for postdoctoral research, where he continues to contribute to significant advancements in medical science, particularly in immune response to viral infections.
Throughout his academic journey, he has received multiple awards and fellowships, reflecting his dedication, innovation, and scientific acumen.
Hailing from coastal Karnataka
Dr Ninaad Lasrado began his education at Sudana Residential School, completed his PUC at Ambika PU College, and graduated in Biotechnology from St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. He belongs to the Mai De Deus Church, Puttur.
He is the son of Smt Stella Sequeira and Dr H R Lasrado, retired Deputy Director of the Karnataka Animal Husbandry Department. The family resides in Puttur and is well-regarded in local academic and community circles.

The recognition by Forbes places Dr Lasrado among the top innovators and leaders under 30 years of age in Asia. It not only highlights his personal achievements but also brings pride to the scientific and academic communities of Dakshina Kannada.
