Puttur,: A scooter rider who was critically injured after being hit by an unidentified vehicle near Karpadi temple gate in Aryapu village on the Mani-Mysuru Highway succumbed to his injuries at a hospital in Mangaluru on Tuesday.
The deceased has been identified as Sundar Acharya, a resident of Mularu in Kuriya.
Accident near Karpadi temple gate
Sundar was travelling on his scooter when an unidentified vehicle collided with him near the Karpadi temple gate. The impact left him seriously injured.
He was initially provided medical assistance and later shifted to a hospital in Mangaluru for further treatment. Despite efforts by doctors, his condition remained critical.
Sundar eventually succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday after failing to respond to treatment.
Vehicle remains untraced
The vehicle involved in the accident has not yet been identified or traced. The circumstances of the collision are being investigated by the police.
A case has been registered at the Puttur Rural police station in connection with the accident. Police are expected to investigate the circumstances leading to the collision and make efforts to identify the vehicle and its driver.
The incident has also raised concerns over the need to identify the vehicle involved in the fatal accident, particularly as the victim was left seriously injured following the collision.
Sundar survived by wife and two sons
Sundar was engaged in carpentry work and was known to be a resident of Mularu in Kuriya.
He is survived by his wife and two sons. His death has left the family grieving following the tragic road accident.
The investigation into the hit-and-run incident is continuing.
