Mangaluru: Puttur Town police have apprehended a 44-year-old man, Mehboob, from Irde village, on charges of drug consumption. The arrest occurred following a tip-off about erratic behavior in a public area of Puttur Kasaba village on Tuesday afternoon.
Upon arrival, Puttur Town police sub-inspector Anjaneya Reddy GV and his team observed Mehboob attempting to flee the scene. However, he was quickly apprehended by the officers. Suspecting drug use, the police transported him to Puttur Government Hospital, where medical tests confirmed the presence of narcotic substances.
A case has been filed at the Puttur Town police station under Section 27(b) of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue to address drug-related issues in the area.
