Mangaluru: Popular Bahrain-based Kannada radio jockey Kamalaksha Amin has been conferred with the Golden Iconic Award in recognition of his outstanding contribution to Kannada broadcasting and cultural promotion at the international level.
The felicitation ceremony, held at Hotel Ocean Pearl in Mangaluru, was a modest yet graceful event attended by eminent personalities from both Bahrain and the coastal city.
The award was presented by Abdul Razak Kote Hejamadi, managing director of a Bahrain-based metal company and president of the Dakshina Kannada District Muslim Welfare Association. While honouring Amin, he lauded the RJ’s commitment to sustaining Kannada’s identity abroad.
“RJ Kamalaksha has successfully carried the essence of Kannada into the Gulf, keeping its heritage and culture alive. His contribution truly blends passion with purpose,” Abdul Razak remarked.
Several dignitaries graced the occasion, including Austin Santosh, former president of Bahrain Kannada Sangha; P B Harish Rai, president of Mangaluru Press Club; ASI Gopalakrishna Kundar of the special police unit; and engineer K P Manjunath Sagar, president of International Cultural Saurabh Parishat.
The guests collectively congratulated and honoured RJ Amin, appreciating his influential role in connecting Kannada-speaking audiences across geographical boundaries. His efforts, they said, have created a cultural bridge that unites Kannadigas worldwide.
