Mangaluru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) has alleged that the Union government is unfairly targeting the party for political mileage. Abdul Jaleel K, president of the SDPI’s Mangaluru City District Unit, addressed the media on Monday, accusing the Centre of misusing administrative powers for political retaliation.
He claimed that various national probe agencies were being exploited to suppress dissent. “Multiple SDPI leaders have been taken into custody under what we believe is a calculated political agenda,” Jaleel stated. He warned that if this pattern continues, the party will take to the streets and pursue legal options.
Jaleel strongly criticized recent National Investigation Agency (NIA) raids linked to the Suhas Shetty murder case in Mangaluru. He maintained that in previous instances, authorities had failed to provide concrete evidence against arrested SDPI members.
“The BJP and its allies are indulging in vendetta politics. The BJP MLAs have contributed nothing substantial to Dakshina Kannada’s progress. To divert attention from their incompetence, they keep stirring communal and caste-related sentiments,” he remarked. He emphasized that the public is observing these tactics.
Referring to the mob lynching of Ashraf from Wayanad, Jaleel pointed out that not all suspects have been apprehended. He urged the state government to set up Special Investigation Teams to probe both the lynching and the murder of Abdul Rahiman.
“We will not back down and will continue to resist, no matter the cost,” he concluded.
