Mangaluru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI) Mangalore Rural District Committee staged a protest at BC Road Kaikamba against the Waqf Amendment Bill tabled in the Rajya Sabha. The demonstration was led by SDPI Mangalore Rural District President Anwar Sadath Bajathur, who strongly opposed the bill, calling it part of the central government’s hidden agenda.

Bajathur emphasized that Waqf properties are assets donated by Muslim elders for community welfare and should remain protected from government intervention. He asserted that the bill is unacceptable to secular forces and has drawn opposition from various religious leaders and organizations across the country.

In a strong display of dissent, the protesters tore and burned copies of the Waqf Amendment Bill to express their disapproval. SDPI Mangalore Rural District Secretary Ashraf Talapadi and several other members actively participated in the protest.
