Mangaluru police have identified the suspects involved in the murder of Suhas Shetty, a known rowdy-sheeter and Hindutva supporter, who was killed by an unidentified group on Thursday evening in the Bajpe police limits. Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Hithendra confirmed that the culprits’ names and other details have been obtained and arrests are imminent.

In response to the incident, prohibitory orders under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita have been enforced across Mangaluru until May 6 to prevent unrest. The city has been placed under high security, with 22 KSRP platoons, five SPs, and over 1,000 police personnel deployed.

ADGP Hithendra, who visited Mangaluru following instructions from Karnataka Home Minister G Parameshwara, emphasized strict action against those responsible. He also urged the public not to fall for rumours and assured that verified information would be shared through official channels.

Suhas Shetty’s last rites are scheduled to take place in Bantwal. Police are monitoring potential public gatherings and have left the decision on any procession to local law enforcement.
