Chief Minister Siddaramaiah is set to arrive in Mangaluru on May 16 to dedicate two prominent public infrastructure projects to the region. These include a brand-new Deputy Commissioner’s (DC) office at Padil and an advanced indoor sports complex at Urwa, according to district in-charge minister Dinesh Gundu Rao.
The DC office, which was initially budgeted at ₹55 crore, has been upgraded with an additional ₹20 crore from the Smart City Mission, bringing the total cost to ₹75 crore. The modern facility will accommodate 23 different departments, aiming to bring seamless governance and centralized access to public services under one roof. “This project highlights our vision of transparent and efficient administration,” Gundu Rao emphasized.
Meanwhile, the indoor stadium at Urwa, built at a cost of ₹35 crore, will serve as a hub for indoor games and training, offering modern amenities to nurture sporting talent and host competitive events. The inauguration marks the culmination of both projects, which were initiated during Siddaramaiah’s earlier term as CM.
Following the launch, government departments will begin shifting to the new DC office in a phased manner, expected to be completed in two to three weeks. The inauguration will be attended by senior officials and public representatives.
On recent political friction, Gundu Rao reiterated that strict action is being taken against fake news online. He dismissed criticism over the handling of the Suhas Shetty murder case, urging focus on facts, not speculation.
