Mangaluru– A major breakthrough has occurred in the Dharmasthala mass burial case, as the complainant appeared before the Special Investigation Team (SIT) at the Mallikatte office on Friday morning. Arriving in a Desire car accompanied by two legal counsels, the complainant’s presence marks a significant moment in a case that has stirred public attention across the region.
The SIT, headed by DIG Anucheth, has intensified its investigation, with the officer scheduled to chair a high-level meeting of officials involved in the case. Present at the SIT office was Jitendra Dayam, the appointed investigating officer, along with members of the Tanika investigative team drawn from Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, and Uttara Kannada districts.
Sources revealed that more than 20 officers, including the Sub-Inspector of Dharmasthala, as well as officers from Mulki and Byndoor, were present for the closed-door strategy session. The meeting is expected to delve into new leads, review forensic data, and plan next steps based on the complainant’s input.
While full details of the complaint remain under wraps, the case reportedly involves allegations of multiple unidentified burials at Dharmasthala. Officials are now under pressure to validate claims and determine whether foul play or criminal negligence is involved.
The meeting was scheduled to begin around 11 am, with a possible media briefing anticipated later in the day.
