Mangaluru– In a key development in the ongoing narcotics crackdown, Mangaluru City Police have arrested the sixth accused in a case filed under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, following the earlier detention of five others.
The latest suspect, Dhruva D Shetty, aged 22 and a resident of Sakaleshpura taluk in Hassan district, was nabbed in Mysuru on Sunday. He is the son of Divakar Shetty. Following his arrest, he was produced before a jurisdictional court and has since been remanded to judicial custody.
The case, filed on July 2 at the Mangaluru Central Crime police station (Crime No. 31/2025), involves charges under Sections 8(c) and 20(b)(ii)(B) of the NDPS Act. On the day of registration, five suspects had already been taken into custody and sent to jail.
Continuing their investigation, authorities identified Dhruva D Shetty as a key link in the drug supply chain, allegedly providing the narcotics to the previously arrested individuals. During his arrest, police seized a mobile phone and a two-wheeler, believed to have been used in the illegal trade.
Police officials have confirmed that the investigation remains active, and efforts are on to track down other individuals possibly connected to the case.
The operation was led by officers from the Mangaluru Central Crime police station, underlining the city police’s commitment to curbing drug-related crimes.
