Mangaluru: In a bid to counter rising communal tensions, the Karnataka State Sunni Yuvajana Sangha (SYS) is set to launch ‘Karavaliya Neladalli Souharda Sanchara’, a multi-location campaign promoting communal harmony across Udupi and Dakshina Kannada districts. The three-day initiative will run from July 14 to 16, beginning in Kundapur at 8 am on Monday.
SYS state general secretary KM Aboobakker Siddiq, addressing the media, expressed deep concern over the deteriorating social fabric in the coastal belt. “This region, once known for its peace and coexistence, has been marred by frequent incidents of hatred, violence, and killings. What was once a land of agriculture, industry, education, and culture, is now seeing rising intolerance and inhuman acts,” he said.
The campaign aims to rekindle the values of unity, compassion, and brotherhood. A series of padayatras (peace marches) and souharda sabhas (harmony meetings) involving representatives of various faiths will be held at 15 locations.
The schedule is as follows:
-
July 14: Kundapur, Udupi, Karkala, Kaup, Padubidri
July 15: Mulki, Surathkal, Mangaluru, Farangipete, BC Road, Kalladka
July 16: Puttur, Uppinangady, Kadaba, Sullia
The SYS hopes that this initiative will inspire the public to reject divisive ideologies and work toward rebuilding trust and peaceful coexistence.
