Mangaluru: Legislative Assembly Speaker UT Khader, accompanied by Dakshina Kannada SP Yathish N, visited the residence of a businessman recently targeted by imposters posing as Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials. The incident saw the family robbed of approximately ₹25 to ₹30 lakh in cash.

During the visit, Speaker Khader and SP Yathish reviewed the investigation’s progress and held discussions with the affected family. Speaking to the media, Khader assured that the police department is conducting a meticulous probe, leveraging advanced technology to expedite the case. He emphasized the importance of cooperation from the family and the local community in solving the crime.

The investigation has been bolstered by the formation of four dedicated teams led by Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) officers. These teams are operating across various states, including Kerala, to track the suspects. Expressing confidence in the police’s efforts, Khader stated that the culprits would be apprehended soon.

The robbery unfolded when six individuals arrived in a Tamil Nadu-registered car, falsely claiming to be ED officials. They confiscated the family’s mobile phones before searching the house and making off with the cash stored for business purposes in a cupboard.

Present during the review were Bantwal DySP Vijay Prasad S, Vittal police officers, family members, and Rasheed Vitla, President of Jamiyyatul Falah Bantwal unit. The case highlights the need for vigilance against such fraudulent activities.
