A case originally deemed a suspicious death has been reclassified as a slow-paced murder involving the deceased’s wife and her alleged lover, following an investigation by the Ajekar police station. The victim, Balakrishna (44), from Marne village in Karkala, had been unwell for 25 days, suffering from fever and vomiting. Initially treated at Rotary Hospital in Karkala, he was diagnosed with jaundice. Despite further treatments at KMC Hospital in Manipal, Wenlock Hospital in Mangaluru, NIMHANS Hospital in Bengaluru, and Victoria Hospital, his condition failed to improve. He was brought home on October 19, where he died at 3:30 am on October 20.
A complaint filed by Balakrishna’s brother, Ramakrishna (42), alleges foul play in his brother’s death. The complaint claims that Balakrishna’s wife, Pratima, had a prior relationship with a man named Dileep from Hirgan. It is suggested that Pratima conspired with Dileep to murder Balakrishna due to his interference in their relationship. Allegedly, Dileep provided a toxic substance for Balakrishna’s food, which gradually deteriorated his health.
The complaint further states that around 1:30 am on October 20, Dileep visited their home, where both he and Pratima allegedly suffocated Balakrishna with a bedsheet. Acting on this information, the Ajekar police have initiated an investigation and registered a case against the suspects.
