Mangaluru: In a heroic act, members of the Shivaji Jeevarakshaka Dala based in Mogaveerapatna, Ullal, rescued four women from the verge of drowning at Ullal beach on Sunday afternoon.

The women, who had travelled from Nayandahalli in Bengaluru, were on a pilgrimage to the Kuthar Koragajja temple and had later stopped by Ullal beach to unwind. The group included Padmini (38), Sowmya (39), Bindu (20), Manjula (35), and Savitha (38).

During their time at the beach, four of them ventured into the water and were unexpectedly caught in powerful waves. Struggling to stay afloat, they found themselves in danger. Responding without hesitation, the Shivaji Lifesaving Team leapt into action, diving into the sea and successfully bringing each woman back to safety.

Soon after, Ullal police personnel arrived at the location following an alert and ensured that the rescued women were promptly transported to a nearby private hospital for medical attention.

To honour their prompt and courageous efforts, Ullal Police Inspector Virupaksha felicitated the Shivaji Jeevarakshaka Dala members, appreciating their brave and life-saving intervention.

Thanks to the alertness and skill of these lifesavers, a potentially tragic incident was averted, reminding beachgoers of the importance of safety and the vital role of trained rescue teams.
