In a heartbreaking incident, an ambulance carrying a patient from Puttur to Mangaluru overturned near Padil on Wednesday, leading to the death of a 65-year-old man, Dasappa Rai, from Haleneranki, Kadaba. His wife, Nalini Rai, along with his son, Harshith, and another relative, Manish, were also inside the ambulance but sustained only minor injuries.
The incident occurred after Dasappa Rai, who had fallen ill the previous day, was being transferred to a hospital in Mangaluru for advanced care following initial treatment in Puttur. While en route, the ambulance driver lost control after crashing into an electric pole, causing the vehicle to flip on the outskirts of the city. Tragically, Dasappa Rai succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
