Mangaluru: The All-India Tulu Federation, dedicated to promoting the Tulu language and culture, will organise one of the largest celebrations of Tuluva culture, known as Tulunad Folk Uchcha, in Mangaluru on August 24. The event promises to be a vibrant showcase of Tulu traditions and artistry.
Event Highlights
The festivities will kick off with the Tuluvera Dibbana procession at 8.30 am, starting from Mangalore University and proceeding to the Town Hall. This grand procession will feature approximately eight folk art ensembles, highlighting various traditional Tulu performances.
Mangaluru South MLA D Veda Vyasa Kamat will inaugurate the event. Notable Tulu personalities including Divakara Shetty Sangli, Nagriguthu Rohit Shetty, Karnoor Mohan Rai, and Ashok Pakkala will be present as guests.
Participation and Awards
Around 46 Tulu service organisations from across India and abroad will participate in the event, with about 13 organisations taking part in Tulunada Kalapanth. Senior playwright, actor, producer, and director Tonse Vijayakumar Shetty will be honoured with the Permeda Tuluve 2024 award for his contributions to Tulu culture.
An art exhibition will also be part of the event, showcasing various aspects of Tuluva artistry and heritage.
