The CEN Crime Police of Mangaluru City have registered a case against two individuals for narcotics consumption under the NDPS Act. The accused have been identified as Ameer Suhail (29) from Bunder and Fathima Juwa (24) from Valencia.
As per the police report, on Tuesday around noon, PSI Mohan, who was on routine patrol, received a tip-off about a man and a woman allegedly under the influence of drugs and misbehaving in public near the Valencia bus stand. Their behavior was reportedly disturbing commuters and passersby.
Acting swiftly on the alert, the officer arrived at the location around 1 pm and found the duo present at the reported spot. Upon being questioned, both individuals allegedly confessed to having consumed narcotic substances.
They were immediately escorted to a private medical facility for examination. Once the medical tests confirmed substance use, a case was officially filed under Section 27B of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
Authorities stated that public disturbance due to drug use is being taken seriously, and any such instances will be met with strict legal action. Further investigations are ongoing.
