Vittal – A severe road accident took place near Mangalapadavu on Thursday evening, leaving two young men critically injured. The mishap occurred when their motorcycle collided with a stationary lorry from behind.

According to local sources, the duo was travelling towards Mangalapadavu when the accident happened. The two-wheeler, moving at considerable speed, failed to notice the parked lorry on the roadside in time and crashed into its rear end with significant force.

The impact left both riders seriously injured, with one of them suffering life-threatening wounds. Onlookers and passersby immediately rushed to assist, and both individuals were quickly transported to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.

As of the latest reports, doctors have stated that while one of the injured is in a stable condition, the other remains in a critical state and is under close observation in the intensive care unit. Their identities have not yet been officially released.

The police have begun an investigation into the circumstances of the accident. Preliminary observations suggest that lack of proper road lighting and poor visibility might have contributed to the crash. Authorities are also looking into whether the parked lorry had its hazard lights or reflectors on, which are essential for roadside safety.

This incident highlights growing concerns about highway safety and the risks posed by unattended heavy vehicles parked on narrow or dimly lit stretches.
