Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada district police have detained two additional suspects in connection with the murder of Abdul Rahiman, bringing the total number of arrests to seven.

The newly arrested individuals have been identified as Abhin Rai (32) from Tenkabellur and Tejaksha (24) from Badagabellur, both located in Bantwal taluk. Police confirmed the arrests on Tuesday as part of the ongoing investigation.

Abdul Rahiman (32), who worked as a driver and also served as the secretary of the local Juma Masjid, was brutally assaulted on May 27 along with Kalandar Shafi in Irakodi, Kuriyala village, which falls under the Bantwal Rural Police Station limits.

The attack, allegedly carried out by a group of assailants, resulted in Rahiman’s death due to severe injuries. His associate Kalandar survived the assault and is currently receiving treatment at a private hospital in Mangaluru.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the motive and identify all individuals involved in the crime. Police continue to maintain heightened vigilance in the area.
