Mangaluru police have registered a case against the organizers of a rights rally held near the town hall on Tuesday to mark National Street Vendors’ Day. The rally, organized by the Street Vendors’ Association under the honorary presidency of B.K. Imtiaz, was conducted despite prior warnings from the authorities about venue and timing restrictions.

According to officials, a notice was issued advising Imtiaz to change the location and timing of the event to avoid potential law and order issues. However, the organizers proceeded with the rally near the town hall. During the event, participants reportedly assembled, displayed Communist Party flags, and chanted slogans, causing inconvenience to pedestrians.

The police have accused the rally of violating conditions outlined in the notice. Charges have been filed against Imtiaz and other participants for forming an unauthorized assembly with the alleged intention of causing disruption.

Authorities are now investigating the case, emphasizing the importance of compliance with regulations for maintaining public order.
