Bantwal: The Vishwakarma Samaja Seva Sangha, Bantwal, marked the holy month of Shravan with a full-day programme at Vishwakarma Sabha Bhavan, Ajekal. The celebration blended spirituality, tradition, and community bonding with rituals, games, cultural performances, and a shared meal.
The event commenced with Deepa Namaskara Pooja, followed by fun-filled competitions and a discourse highlighting the religious essence of Shravan. Participants later enjoyed a traditional lunch served with an array of delicacies, after which dance and cultural activities entertained the gathering.
The formal ceremony was inaugurated by retired teacher Ratnavati J Acharya of Baikadi, who was felicitated on the occasion. In her address, she emphasized the importance of safeguarding the cultural heritage of Tulunadu for future generations. “Festivals strengthen our roots. Shravan is significant as it recalls the legend of Lord Shiva consuming poison during the Samudra Manthan. Such gatherings keep values alive while deepening community unity,” she remarked.
Presiding over the event, association president Sudhakar Acharya expressed delight over the overwhelming participation. He stressed the role of value-based learning for children and urged members to utilize the Sabha Bhavan for constructive initiatives. He further assured that the Sangha would create platforms for youngsters to display their abilities.
Winners of cultural and entertainment contests—including musical chairs, pot-breaking, and housie-housie—were honoured with prizes. Vishwajyothi Mahila Mandali president Vidya Ratnakar Acharya and treasurer Vishwanath Acharya graced the occasion.
The programme concluded with Mahamangalarati, prasadam distribution, and a festive lunch prepared collectively by members. The day not only celebrated Shravan but also reaffirmed the Vishwakarma community’s commitment to cultural preservation and harmony.
