Speaker and MLA UT Khader has urged the deputy commissioner to convene a coordination committee meeting to address the ongoing sand availability issue in the district. Emphasizing the importance of ensuring affordable sand for development projects and house construction, Khader also called for the legalization of sand extraction in CRZ areas by the central government. He pointed out that, as a district minister, he had introduced the ‘Sand Bazaar’ app and urged the district administration to reintroduce it to ensure smooth sand availability for the public.

Khader also provided updates on several key infrastructure projects in the Mangalore constituency. Soil testing is currently underway for proposed bridges from Kotepura to Bolar and Sajipa to Thumbe, which have already received cabinet approval. The proposal for a Rs 12 crore hanging bridge between Adyar and Uliya is in its final stages, and the tender process for a new fire station in Ullal is nearing completion. Land has been identified for the construction of a Taluk Soudha in Ullal, and a Beary Bhavana will be constructed at Thiplepadavu at a cost of Rs 6 crore.

Addressing concerns about the stray dog menace on the Vidhana Soudha premises, Khader shared that the public works department (PWD) has initiated the tender process for a dedicated shelter for the 52 stray dogs currently residing there. An agency will be engaged to manage their care.

Khader also weighed in on the language dispute in Belagavi, stressing that all languages should serve as a unifying force for the country. He assured that the issue would be resolved and reaffirmed that Belagavi remains an integral part of Karnataka.
