Date : 07-04-2024

Shivamogga: An FIR has been registered against former minister KS Eshwarappa, who is planning to contest as an independent candidate from the Shivamogga Lok Sabha segment.

According to local sources, Eshwarappa conducted an election campaign without obtaining permission from the concerned authority, and officials have registered an FIR against him for breaching the model code of conduct after obtaining permission from the court.

Sources said that on April 5, Eshwarappa visited Ambu Thirtha temple in Nonaburu Gram Panchayat in Thirthahalli taluk, where he visited the priest’s house after worshipping the deity. At the same time, he addressed a gathering of 50-60 people and made a political speech.

The leader did not obtain permission for that event, and since it was a non-cognizable offense, an FIR was lodged against him after obtaining permission from the court, officials said.
