Mumbai has secured the 14th spot on Time Out’s 2025 list of the top 20 food cities worldwide, making it the only Indian city on the prestigious ranking. This is a drop from last year’s 8th place, but the city’s diverse street food culture continues to impress globally.

The report highlights Mumbai’s vibrant khau gallis (food streets), stretching from Zaveri Bazaar to Ghatkopar, as go-to hubs for a bold and flavorful food experience. Dishes like chaat, jumbo sandwiches, veggie ‘pizzas,’ Frankie wraps, and falooda were praised for their richness and intensity.

The top three food destinations were New Orleans (USA), Bangkok (Thailand), and Medellin (Colombia). The rankings were based on a global survey assessing food quality, affordability, and uniqueness, with additional input from food critics.

Previously, Mumbai was ranked 5th globally by Taste Atlas, solidifying its reputation as a culinary powerhouse. Other Indian cities also featured in the top 100 food destinations.
