Mysuru: Three promising young swimmers from Mysuru are gaining national acclaim through their remarkable performances at swimming championships across India. Subrahmanya Jeevansh, Sanvi, and Rithva, who train at the JP Nagar Nalwadi Krishnaraja Wodeyar Swimming Pool, are committed to representing India on the global stage. Their coach, Pavan from the Global Sports Association, has been instrumental in their journey.
National triumphs for Jeevansh
Subrahmanya Jeevansh, a Class 8 student at Dayanand Arya Vidya Public School, recently clinched two golds and a silver at the CBSE National Swimming Championship held in Bhubaneswar in October 2023. Jeevansh, who began swimming at the age of 6, was originally enrolled in sports for fitness, with a focus on cricket. However, he found his passion in swimming, training twice daily despite early mornings and cold conditions. Inspired by legends like Michael Phelps and Indian athletes Srihari Nataraj and Sajan Prakash, Jeevansh dreams of representing India at the Olympics.
At the CBSE championship, he won gold in the 200m and 100m butterfly events, along with a silver in the 200m medley. Additionally, he secured two gold and two silver medals at state-level competitions and a gold in the 100m butterfly at the Southern Zone Championship in Thiruvananthapuram. Jeevansh has also qualified for the National Championship by the School Games Federation of India.
Sanvi’s achievements and aspirations
Sanvi, a 5th grader at DAV School, recently earned a silver medal in the 200m individual medley at the CBSE National Swimming Championship. Her mother, R. Mamata, encouraged her to overcome her fear of water, enrolling her in swimming for fitness at age 6. Sanvi has since won multiple state-level medals, including gold and silver in the 100m and 50m butterfly events and silver in the 200m freestyle. At the South Zone Championship, she secured three silver medals in Mandya and one silver and two bronze medals in Davanagere. Her father, P. Raghukumar, supports her ambitions to excel in swimming.
Rithva’s pursuit of Olympic dreams
Rithva, an 11-year-old 5th-grade student at St. Thomas School in Vishweshwaranagar, won a gold in the 50m butterfly and silver in the 200m individual medley at the CBSE National Swimming Championship. Determined to reach the Olympic level, Rithva has been training rigorously, logging five hours a day in the pool. His parents, K. Shivkumar and Sridevi, have encouraged him since he started swimming at age 5 for fitness. Rithva has amassed 33 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals across district, state, and national competitions, with his sights firmly set on representing India at the Olympics.
Each of these dedicated swimmers, under the guidance of Coach Pavan, continues to train daily with the goal of achieving international recognition. Their journey reflects the spirit of perseverance and the promise of bringing glory to Mysuru and India on the world stage.
