BJP activists staged a protest near Ramaswamy Circle, Mysuru, on Friday, condemning the Karnataka government’s handling of the Bengaluru stampede that claimed the lives of 11 RCB fans following the team’s first-ever IPL title win.
Led by Krishnaraja MLA T.S. Srivatsa, the protesters blamed the Congress-led government for the tragedy and criticized the suspension of the Bengaluru Police Commissioner as an act of scapegoating.
Raising slogans, they labelled Chief Minister Siddaramaiah as Accused No. 1 (A1), Deputy CM D.K. Shivakumar as A2, and Home Minister G. Parameshwara as A3, demanding the CM’s resignation.
Srivatsa questioned why no action was taken in the MUDA scam, where Siddaramaiah was allegedly involved, while officers were quickly suspended in the stampede incident. He accused the CM of misusing power for personal benefit.
The BJP maintained that blaming officials for the stampede was merely a way to shield political leadership. Former MLA and city BJP chief L. Nagendra also joined the protest.
