Mysuru: The Chamarajanagar district administration was jolted early Saturday after an email threat claimed that a bomb had been planted at the Deputy Commissioner’s office. Authorities responded swiftly by deploying bomb disposal teams and sniffer dogs to comb the area thoroughly.

Superintendent of Police BT Kavitha confirmed the receipt of the threat and stated that the building was evacuated, and access was blocked as a precaution. The bomb squad conducted a detailed sweep, ensuring the safety of all personnel.

Shockingly, similar threats were reported at the Raichur district administration and even in Kerala, raising concerns over a coordinated attempt to spread fear. The email alleged that an explosive device would detonate at 3 PM on Saturday within the Chamarajanagar DC office premises.

Despite the tense situation, DC Shilpa Nag, ZP CEO Mona Roth, and Additional DC Geetha Hudeda continued working from outside under a tree. Addressing the media, Shilpa Nag said the threat was promptly shared with CEN police and senior government officials.

Meanwhile, in Mysuru, Nazarbad police registered an FIR after a threatening email was sent to the city commissioner, warning of bomb blasts across the city. The email, written in English, led to heightened alertness. Police have invoked Sections 351 and 353 under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and launched a probe to trace the IP address and identify the sender.

Authorities are maintaining strict vigilance across affected districts.
