Preparations have begun to launch Cauvery Arathi at Brindavan Gardens, Mandya, as part of DCM D.K. Shivakumar’s vision. Although the official launch is still in planning, civil works costing ₹92.3 crore are set to begin. A tender was issued between May 16–26 for building a stage for Arathi, cultural performances, and three grand viewing galleries to host 10,000 people.
The weekly Arathi event will be held near the boating point every Friday to Sunday, featuring cultural evenings and showcasing Karnataka’s heritage. Plans include transforming the Cauvery Arathi into a pan-South India celebration, involving Tamil Nadu, Kerala, and Puducherry—regions linked by the river.
Additionally, a ₹2,615.96 crore tender was floated to develop a world-class amusement park at Brindavan. This mega project will feature over 40 attractions including a laser fountain, botanical gardens, amphitheatre, wax and doll museums, a techno park, penguin zoo, jungle boat rides, balloon rides, parasailing, and more. Infrastructure upgrades like a helipad, walkways, parking, and an entry plaza are also included. The project is expected to complete in 4.5 years with maintenance handled for 30 years by stakeholders.
Fountains on two terraces will also be renovated for ₹6 crore. Additionally, ₹5 crore is being invested to upgrade the bus stand and another ₹5 crore to improve security with CCTV, scanners, and gates.
Tourist footfall has already risen, from 14.5 lakh in 2022–23 to over 16 lakh in 2023–24. Stakeholders and tourists alike hope this makeover will restore Brindavan Garden’s past grandeur.
