Chamarajanagar: Concerns have been raised by members of the Christian community following the deaths of three persons in a forest encounter in the Shagya area of Chamarajanagar district.

A social media post shared by Amogghakarnataka features a person questioning who will support the community as it seeks justice in the case. The speaker says the community feels it has to fight for its demands on its own.

Community seeks support and justice

The remarks come amid continuing demands from the families of the deceased for answers regarding the circumstances of the encounter involving Forest Department personnel.

The relatives have previously sought the presence of political leaders and senior Forest Department officials before proceeding with post-mortem procedures. They have also demanded a detailed explanation of the incident.

The case has remained a matter of concern for the families, who have been seeking clarity and justice following the deaths.

Questions remain over encounter

Hanur MLA Manjunath has reportedly met the families and assured them of support in their efforts to seek justice. A demand for compensation of Rs 15 lakh has also been raised, according to a separate social media post.

However, the available social media posts do not independently establish the exact circumstances of the encounter, the identities or backgrounds of all those involved, or the legal status of the demands being raised.

The concerns expressed by the community add another dimension to the ongoing calls for transparency. Further investigation and official clarification are expected to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
