In a bold daylight burglary, unidentified thieves broke into a house in Vajamangala village (Mysuru taluk) and decamped with gold, silver, cash, and a mobile phone worth over ₹21 lakh.
The house belongs to Javaregowda, a resident of Kokkare Hundi village in Srirangapatna taluk, Mandya. He had built a house on Survey No. 378 in Vajamangala, where he resided with his wife Jayamma, son, and daughter-in-law.
On Friday, the entire family had stepped out for various reasons. Around 12:30 PM, Jayamma locked the house and left for Kokkare Hundi. By the time Javaregowda’s daughter and son-in-law arrived at 6:30 PM, the house had already been ransacked — the front door lock was broken, and the valuables were missing.
A stunned Javaregowda, who also returned shortly, discovered that burglars had stolen:
- Gold jewellery worth ₹18.48 lakh
- Silver articles worth ₹1.20 lakh
- Cash amounting to ₹1.50 lakh
- A mobile phone
The total loss is estimated at ₹21.18 lakh. Police are investigating the case, and locals are shocked at the audacity of the burglars who struck in broad daylight in a relatively quiet village.
