Mysore: In a chilling case that has shocked the region, the mutilated body of an unidentified person was discovered in the Etha irrigation lake near Subbanahalli in Hunsur taluk, around 20 km from Mysore.

Earlier, on May 25, separate human body parts — including a head, left forearm, right knee, and part of a thigh — were found in Chikkere lake, leading authorities to suspect a heinous crime. The latest discovery revealed the torso without legs, confirming fears of a gruesome and calculated murder.

Investigations suggest the victim was brutally killed, dismembered, and the body parts disposed of across multiple water bodies to hinder identification and delay investigation. The Jayapura Police, along with Mysore rural units, are intensifying efforts to trace the victim’s identity.

Despite extensive search operations within and beyond Karnataka, the identity of the deceased remains unknown, complicating the case. Police believe that establishing who the victim is could lead them directly to the perpetrator.

Authorities are treating the matter as a brutal murder of a possibly mentally or physically challenged individual, given the victim remains unclaimed.

A case has been officially filed at the Jayapura police station, and further forensic analysis is underway to piece together the timeline and motive behind this horrific act.

Police are appealing to the public for any leads that could help identify the victim or the accused.
