To boost science education and critical thinking among schoolchildren, the Karnataka State Scientific Research Council (KSSRC) will establish two permanent ‘Nakshatra Mandirs’ (star domes) in Doddaballapur and Tumkur, announced science advocate Dr. Hulikal Nataraj. Each dome, equipped with 4K digital projection, will seat 85–100 viewers and screen science shows and anti-superstition films.

Funded by CSR grants of ₹2.5–3 crore, the domes are being built in partnership with Karnataka-based Bharat Dome Innovation Pvt. Ltd. Once operational, these domes are expected to reach over 1.5 lakh children in the first phase, offering immersive experiences to government school students and rural youth. The domes will also serve as long-term hubs for teacher training, night-sky observation, and science outreach for the next 20–30 years.
