Mysuru: District In-charge Minister Dr H C Mahadevappa on Friday highlighted Karnataka’s inclusive development model, stating it focuses on empowering citizens, protecting equal rights, and ensuring opportunities in accordance with the Constitution.

Speaking at the 79th Independence Day celebrations organised by the district administration and the National Festivals Celebration Committee at Banni Mantap Grounds, the Minister said the government has not only made promises but also delivered them through the successful rollout of its five guarantee schemes.

He pointed out that around seven lakh households are availing the Anna Bhagya programme, which provides 10 kg of free rice. Under the Shakthi scheme, 32.6 crore women have travelled in state-run buses free of charge. Similarly, 9.14 lakh women family heads are receiving ₹2,000 monthly support through the Gruha Lakshmi scheme, while 10,539 youth have been covered under the Yuva Nidhi initiative.

The Minister also mentioned the implementation of Krishi Bhagya, aimed at boosting agriculture, horticulture, irrigation, and watershed projects. In the housing sector, 13,985 homes have already been constructed against a target of 21,000 units in the district.

Mahadevappa noted that the Mysuru City Corporation (MCC) achieved a record ₹239 crore property tax collection, 93% of its target. An agreement has also been signed with Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited to set up a ₹65 crore compressed biogas plant, capable of processing 145 tonnes of waste daily.

Healthcare facilities too have expanded, with nine Namma Clinics now offering 12 types of medical services. Additionally, the Dr B R Ambedkar Bhavan, being built at a cost of ₹23 crore on Deewan’s Road, will soon be completed by the Mysuru Development Authority.

The event saw the presence of MLA Tanveer Sait, MLC C N Manjegowda, DC G Lakshmikanth Reddy, ZP CEO S Ukesh Kumar, MCC Commissioner Syed Asif Tanveer, Police Commissioner Seema Latkar, and SP N Vishnuvardhan.
