Karnataka Soaps and Detergents Limited (KSDL), known for its iconic Mysore Sandal Soap, is launching a major CSR initiative to support 10,000 forest personnel across Karnataka. The programme will be inaugurated in Mysuru at 2 PM on Wednesday at the Mysuru Open University Conference Hall by Industries Minister MB Patil.
Funded through KSDL’s ₹2 crore CSR budget for 2024–25, the initiative will provide essential kits — including a bag, jerkin, shoes, and water bottle — to forest guards, watchers, mahouts, kavadis, and department drivers. Minister Patil emphasized that since forest personnel safeguard sandalwood, the core ingredient in KSDL’s flagship soap, this gesture is a symbol of gratitude.
At the Mysuru launch, 2,168 staff from the Chamarajanagar and Mysuru forest divisions will receive kits. The remaining kits will be distributed across the state in the following days.
Forest Minister Eshwar Khandre, KSDL Chairman CS Nadagouda, Wildlife Board Member Dhruv Patil, and other dignitaries will attend. Notably, jerkins and shoes have been tailored as per individual measurements, collected beforehand.
Of the total 10,000 beneficiaries, 5,000 are permanent staff, while the rest serve on a casual basis, Patil stated.
This initiative not only supports those guarding Karnataka’s forests but also underscores KSDL’s commitment to environmental responsibility and social equity.
