International badminton ace Maleyanda Arun Poovaiah showcased remarkable form at two separate Pan-India Masters Badminton Championships held in Chennai and Mangaluru.

At the Chennai event, organised by the Tambaram District Badminton Association, Arun dominated the court by clinching a Triple Crown, securing titles in Singles, Doubles, and Mixed Doubles categories — a rare and commendable feat.

In Mangaluru, he added another title to his tally by winning the Singles Championship. Notably, the trophy was presented to him by his younger brother, Ashok Poovaiah — himself a former international shuttler — who graced the occasion as the guest of honour.

Arun is now rigorously training for the World Masters Badminton Championships, where he will represent India. The prestigious tournament is scheduled to take place in Pattaya, Thailand, this September.

A proud native of Nelji, Napoklu in Kodagu, Arun is currently based in Bengaluru, where he is also actively engaged in mentoring and coaching young and aspiring badminton talents.

His past achievements include silver and bronze medals at previous editions of the World Masters Championships, held in Malaysia and Bulgaria, reflecting his consistent performance on the global stage.

Arun’s journey from the courts of Kodagu to international arenas stands as a testament to dedication, talent, and sportsmanship.
